Sports news: first weekend of February 2026

The world of athletics continues to live in the intense rhythm of the winter season, giving fans vivid emotions and new sports achievements. The competition took place in a variety of climatic conditions — from the hot United Arab Emirates to cool Europe and America.

In London, at the London Cross Challenge , Hugo Milner celebrated his return to competition after a seven-month break. He confidently won the men’s 10-kilometer race, covering the distance in 31:16 and ahead of Richard Slade. In the women’s start, Eleanor Curran was the best, who finished in 29:50, while Scout Adkin was second at the finish.

In Dubai, at the prestigious Burj2Burj Half Marathon, Olympic champion Joshua Cheptegei once again confirmed his high class with a victory with a score of 59:26 in an extremely tight fight. The women’s race also turned out to be intense, with Irene Cheptay finishing first with a time of 66:57, just two seconds ahead of Daisila Jerono, who set a personal best.

In Albufeira, Portugal,  Rodrigue Quiezera won his fourth victory at the ECCC Cross Country, confidently finishing the distance in 27:19. His success helped Playas de Castellon to win the team victory. The women’s competition day brought triumph to Miriam Skull, and in the club standings, Jaclyn Rotich won to secure the title for Sporting Clube Braga.  and among young people, Sandra Fernandez in juniors and Franklin Kibet in juniors stood out.

In San Sebastián, the traditional Gimnastica de Ulla race took place, where Carlos Mayo won the men’s race with a result of 29:00, and among women, Isabel Barreiro was the fastest, covering the distance in 32:28. Meanwhile, in Harare, the local marathon brought victory to Isaac Mpofu, who finished in 2:18:25, and among women, Kenyan Sylvia Kwambai was the first.

In the Japanese Nobeoka, marathon  victories with personal bests were won by Reina Hayashida and Kazuto Kawabata. In Vancouver, at the First Half Marathon, Natasha Vodak and Cameron Levins were the best, who showed stable results. In Ethiopia, at the high-altitude half marathon in Hawassa, the fastest were Semechev Velde and Bethlehem Asmaré.

Indian Alwar became the seat of Kenyan dominance, with Simon Maiwa winning the men’s race, while Diana Wanza was first among women. In Yamaguchi, Japan, Taiga Hirayama set a personal best by winning the corporate half marathon. In the Netherlands, at the competition in Schorl, Kenneth Kiprop won the men’s race, and among women, Moroccan Sukaina Atanane won with a personal best.

In Casablanca , the 10 km race ended with the triumphs of Hafid Rizgi and Kaltum Busairia. In Italy, at the cross country in Ala dei Sardi, the best were Winfred Yavi and Yeman Krippa. The competition week ended with starts in Karatsu, Japan, where Miyu Saito was the fastest in the 10 km, and Taisei Kiyono won the 10 mile race.
