At the Prefontaine Classic Diamond League stage in Eugene, Australia’s Cameron Myers took his first victory of the series, winning the Bowerman Mile with an Oceania record of 3:46.06. American Jared Nuguse finished second (3:46.61), Sam Strand was third (3:46.97).

At the ABSA Run Your City 10K race in Durban, South Africa, Olympic champion in the 10,000 meters Joshua Cheptegei won a convincing victory with a result of 27:19. The second was the Kenyan Salem Kibet (27:29), and the third was the champion’s compatriot Emmanuel Kibet (27:32). In the women’s race, Kenyans took the entire podium: Doreen Cherop (30:43), Brenda Jepchirchir (30:52) and world record holder in steeplechase Beatrice Chepkoech (31:25), who continues her successful return from injury.

Josh Kerr showed a record result for Great Britain, confirming his status as one of the strongest runners in the world, and Australian Cameron Myers won his first victory in the Diamond League. He won the legendary Bowerman Mile in 3:46.06, setting a new Oceania record and the best result of an outdoor season. American Jared Nuguse finished second (3:46.61), Sam Strand was third (3:46.97).

In Brazil, the Porto Alegre marathon ended with a double success for Moroccan athletes. The winner was Zineddine Uriah, who set a personal best of 2:08:52. Second place was taken by Aziz Urkia (2:09:08), and Kenyan Thomas Maru finished third (2:09:16). Particular attention was drawn to the performance of two-time Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge. The star Kenyan finished the distance only in 12th position with a result of 2:18:42. It was his first start on Brazilian soil after winning the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. The women’s marathon was won by Moroccan Kautar Kahhaz (2:33:01).

Another notable event took place at the Gold Coast Marathon in Australia. Haftu Strintzos won in 2:06:20, setting a new Australian record and track record. He became the first Australian in two decades to win this prestigious marathon. Among women, the best was the Ethiopian Almaz Kebede with a result of 2:24:53.

Olympic medalist Tamirat Tola became the winner of the prestigious Giro Podistico Internazionale di Castelbuono race at a distance of 11.34 km. He covered the distance in 34:26. The second place was taken by the Italian Yemane Krippa (34:36), and the third was finished by the representative of Uganda Victor Kiplangat (35:20).

Other results include the victories of Kenyans Vivian Jeptanui and Nicholas Kiptoo at the ASICS Golden Run half marathon in Rio de Janeiro, as well as the success of Simon Maya and Gladys Cherop at the half marathon in Mexico City. Ethiopia’s Tsigiye Gebreselama set a course record at the Boilermaker 15K in the United States, while Japan’s Janet Nyewa Mutungi topped the world season record in the 10,000 meters with a time of 30:29.16.
